Meh! to Woohoo! in minutes

Ok I confess…

I woke up this morning in a right grumpy mood.  I went to bed with a cracking headache last night, slept for 9 hours solid and woke up with the cat sitting on me, clamouring for food, the headache still in place and a black cloud of doom over my head.  Good job I live with teenagers so nobody else was conscious.

I had the makings of a really pants day.  It would be so easy to decide at that point that it was a crappy day.  To assume that everything I did today would be a waste of time.  That everything would go wrong.  But even in the midst of my grumpiness, I knew that this isn’t how I would choose to spend my day.

So, I started the day as usual by being thankful.  This isn’t a religious thing but instead it’s all about the Law of Attraction (Have a look at The Secret by Rhonda Byrne which is a book and a film).  The idea is that being grateful for what you do have and that gratitude will bring you more.  And it makes you feel blooming good.  I started the day by grumpily being thankful that I slept all night, thankful that I had a bed to sleep in, thankful that I could have a lie in, thankful for the electric toothbrush… You get the picture.  I then started saying to myself “I am happy”, “I am in a great mood”, “today is a great day”.  And smiling – lots.

You actually can’t stay grumpy while you do this.  So my mood is already lifting.

Going back to the Law of Attraction, did you ever have one of those days where you hit the snooze button too many times, woke up in a panic, stubbed your toe on the bed, ran to the bathroom only to find the toothpaste had run out, the shower was cold and your only clean shirt is crumpled.  And so on.  You expect to have a bad day so you get one.  If you stop now, and start expecting everything to run smoothly from here on, it actually will.

It doesn’t matter if you believe in it or not.  It happens anyway.  If you buy a new red Ford fiesta, you will start to see red Ford Fiestas everywhere.  If you buy a new leather jacket, you will see leather jackets all over town.  Try it out.  It works.

It’s not some strange cult or religion you have to join up to.  It’s purely about being grateful for what you have, being happy and attracting more.  More happiness, more love, more friendship and even more money.

So, today, are you staying grumpy or are you joining me and deciding to be happy?
