Did you know that more people are afraid of public speaking than are afraid of dying?
There was a time, not so long ago, when the very thought of public speaking for any length of time would have sent me running for cover. Or even going into a situation where I had to meet new people without a buddy to hold my hand. Most of us are quite happy in our little “boxes” thank you very much. I’d rather chew my own feet/stick pins in my eyes/babysit a room full of screaming toddlers. You get the picture?
You want me to do what???
So when I joined The Mumpreneurs Networking Club, I braced myself, did a bit of self hypnosis, and ventured into the unknown. I knew noone. I was absolutely terrified. And then – and only once I was there – I discovered that I was going to have to stand in front of all those people and tell them what I do! (That’ll teach me not to do my research!). I had envisioned having to chat to people over coffee and hadn’t considered this. As we went round the room and I watched people doing their “pitch”. Soon, it was my turn. And I realised that I could do it. I stood up and spoke in front of a room full of business people. (To be fair, they are a really friendly bunch). What I realised very quickly was that it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. But it got me thinking. A few years ago there was no way I would even have entered that room. But with all the hypnotherapy I have had and have learned, I’ve built up my confidence and my belief in myself generally. And I’ve realised that I can stand up and speak to these people on a regular basis without any fear. I’ve reprogrammed my response to the idea of public speaking. And what’s more, I can help other people to do the same.
Even teachers get scared
I have helped people in many walks of life with public speaking. From police personnel, scientists, teachers and people having to do deliver wedding speeches. Using hypnotherapy, I can help people who need to speak publically to stand up tall, be confident and look confident as they deliver their speeches with confidence. So if you have a speech to make or just need a confidence boost, contact me to see how I can help.
